Only two rogues here so far... Still, here a useful link on how and where to up your lockpicking skill. It's very important for a rogue to be able to unlock various chests as well as doors in instances etc

It can get a bit tedious but it's worth it in the end... If a rogue's lockpicking is high enough you don't need to look for keys in some instance (or so the seasoned rogues tell me, hey I'm a noob)

Yeah Smack, mobs drop chests when you pickpocket them, good for practicing the skill but sometimes not enough... They contain money, poisons and other goodies. The satyrs drop chests often from my experience...

What I need to do is up my cooking and fishing... Cos it will only get more difficult later.. Boring...

Once you reach Burning Crusade lock picking level and above though, I highly recommend using a macro to level it for you

It's really very simple. Here's the one I used on my Undead Rogue;

Cheap shot macro;
#showtooltip Cheap Shot
/cast Pick Pocket
/cast Cheap Shot

Garrote Macro;
#showtooltip Garrote
/cast Pick Pocket
/cast Garrote


I leveled with a combat sword spec, so back stab and ambushes were never part of my rotation.
These automatically pick pocket the target you're opening on, giving you extra money via actual coins, random trash loot and on (frequent) occasion, a lock box. These can contain all sorts of items, from more vendor trash to health pots, pre wotlk they contained poison ingredients and now, as far as I know, contain actual poisons as well.

No longer shall leveling your lock picking skill distract you from your questing
